About The Real Hollywood Film
Forget the glossy travel pamphlets, the safe preplanned VIP tours, and the mind melting drudgery of being herded around with all of the other tourists. This documentary feature film by emerging filmmaker IJ Ross, will peel back all of the layers of formality, glitz and glam, and take a sobering look at the realities of Hollywood. This story will tell itself through interviews, on-the-spot situations, and archival footage. It is to be an informed, yet unbiased, raw look at the "movie capital of the world."
Despite the recent commercialization, or "Disney-fication" of Hollywood, there still lies an underlying grittiness to the place. Each and every year, thousands of would-be movie stars and rock stars flock here, looking to make it big and strike it rich, meanwhile toiling away at some meaningless and sometimes demeaning job. Why do they do it, knowing the odds are stacked against them in such a big way? Or do some not? What does it take to "make it?" What is the average person's perception of Hollywood? All of these questions and issues will be sought out and addressed in this project.
