The Real Hollywood Film
The Real Hollywood Film - Trailer
I.J. Ross Writer/Director/Executive Producer

After proudly serving his country in the U.S. military and receiving his honorable discharge, I.J. Ross returned home from overseas to his beloved hometown of San Francisco. A creative person since his early childhood, he had been creating films with his fellow soldiers while on active duty, and became fascinated by the whole filmmaking process. He then left everything behind and moved to the City of Angels with the hopes of being involved in film, whether it be acting, writing, comedy, or filmmaking. Telling stories is what really stood out and appealed to I.J., and living the Hollywood lifestyle gave him an insider’s view as to the whole Hollywood experience.

The seeds for The Real Hollywood film project were planted long ago within I.J.’s psyche as a result of these factors. His film is an enlightened, informed, yet slightly more postitive spin on “The Movie Capital of the World,” as he believes that there are too many negative perspectives out there already.

Ryan Chapman Photographer

Born and raised in Upstate New York, Ryan has always been intrigued by filmmaking, ever since discovering cameras at the age of eight. He attended the University of Albany as an English and Film Theory student, where his visual creativity and directorial style truly developed. Shortly after graduation, and while slaving away in an art foundry, Ryan made the decision to pack his bags and move to Los Angeles, where he hoped to fully push himself to his potential and become immersed in the art of film.

With intentions to learn every aspect of the job from scratch, he lived off of his savings for months while he worked for free on as many independent projects as he could find. He quickly committed himself to lighting and camera technique, constantly thinking outside of the box in creative yet subtle ways to capture the scene, mood, and atmosphere at hand. He draws inspiration from filmmakers as diverse as Terrence Malick, Andrei Tarkovsky, Bela Tarr, and Werner Herzog. He now happily works solely as a cinematographer, and has shot numerous features, shorts, music videos, and whatever else you put in front of him. He has a great interest in The Real Hollywood Film and thinks that this will be the perfect vehicle to bring his already developing skills to the next level in a big way.

Mitchell Lestner Sound

As a musician and drummer Mitchell has always had an affinity for sound. As a child he would mimic sound effects from the various video games that he played and films he had watched. At the age of 15 he began playing drums and has been in countless bands since then. Through being around different musical influences, he developed his passion for sound further and decided that this is what drove and motivated him the most.

During college Mitchell discovered the highly instinctual art of sound design. The ability to help tell a story through the creation of layers of soundscapes made him realize that the intricacies of the wavelengths in sound waves was something that brought the cinematic experience to a whole new level. Mitchell has recently moved from his East coast home (and comfort zone) of Baltimore, Maryland to L.A. He intends to make a huge mark as a sound designer for all kinds of visual media. He has recently founded his own sound design company Sartorial Sound. He plans to create and release his own commercial sound effects libraries in the future.

The Real Hollywood Film seemed like a natural fit for him, since the director I.J. Ross was looking for someone eager to learn and more than passionate and skilled enough to fill the shoes of a true sound artist.
